KanAm Grund Group expands German development management activities

KanAm Grund Group is expanding its development management activities in Germany, enabling it to offer investments that achieve higher returns for its investors. The company’s German development activities are concentrated in the KanAm Grund German Development Fonds, a specialized real estate fund, and managed from its headquarters in Frankfurt’s OMNITURM building. KanAm Grund Group is currently involved in linked projects with a total volume of more than 500 million euros. Two projects have already been successfully sold, and further implementation decisions regarding project developments already being actively managed and large-scale lettings are planned for 2022.

As Associate Director/Head of Development Germany, Michael Adler is responsible for operational and strategic development of KanAm Grund Group projects in Germany. He has more than twelve years experience in the development sector and five years in asset management. Before joining KanAm Grund Group, he spent around eight years at DIC Asset and GEG German Estate Group.

KanAm Grund Group has been expanding its development activities in Germany in particular since 2018. The KanAm Grund German Development Fonds was launched especially for the purpose of providing the equity and mezzanine capital for acquisitions. The project development fund currently consists of four project developments in the German cities of Frankfurt am Main, Munich, Rostock and Esslingen. The task of the development management department is to provide project planning and to manage the technical and building regulations aspects of the projects, including applications for obtaining building permits and, where applicable, construction. One of the recent achievements of the development management department was the large-scale letting of the Levelingstrasse project in Munich to Orbis Apartments GmbH. The boarding house, which has yet to be constructed, will be occupied on completion by its Nena Apartments brand. The go-ahead for the construction phase of the project will be given shortly.

In addition to monitoring existing projects, KanAm Grund Group continually examines potential new development opportunities. Particular attention is given to the segments Hotel/Serviced Apartments; Logistics and Light Industrial; Office, Residential and Retail in the top seven cities and in economically strong metropolitan regions. Central locations with good connections and existing or readily available building rights are essential. Projects are implemented either by KanAm Grund Group alone or as part of joint ventures with operational development partners (with proven track records). Potential refurbishment and repositioning projects are also constantly being examined. In addition to its project activities in Germany, KanAm Grund Group also engages in project developments in the rest of Europe.
