The KanAm Grund Group successfully continued its growth course in 2020 despite the uncertain conditions due to the global corona pandemic. It raised a total of 1.3 billion euros in equity and reached a transaction volume of around 1.45 billion euros in 23 purchases and sales. The number of assets under management (AUM) grew by 30 percent to around 5.8 billion euros. Staffing levels were increased accordingly; the number of employees rose by 46 percent. In the year of its 20th anniversary, the internationally active Frankfurt-based specialist company for real estate investments and fund solutions moved into the newly built OMNITURM. In its anniversary year, KanAm Grund Group was also named „Best Asset Manager Retail Real Estate Europe” by the respected Scope rating agency and was involved in several organizations for sustainability in the real estate industry. The public fund LEADING CITIES INVEST also achieved “Green Star Status” in the GRESB Rating, the leading rating system for measuring the sustainability performance of real estate companies and real estate funds.
The KanAm Grund Group has been active in the field of sustainability for years. The "KanAm Grund Group Goes Green Strategy" aims at sustainability at company and fund level. The focus is on energy efficiency as well as climate-friendly and ecological management. For this purpose, the KanAm Grund Group is a member of the UN PRI, the U.S. Green Building Council and the ECORE ESG Circle of Real Estate. The properties in KanAm Grund Group's portfolio have been externally assessed for a long time and certification to the latest sustainability standards has been sought.
Also in 2020, the renowned rating agency Scope confirmed KanAm Grund Group’s excellence in transaction and asset management. In their justification, they commented, among other things, that the KanAm Grund Group is characterized by a long continuity in its management team. Through a strong increase in staff both in the private customer business and in the creation of new specialized real estate funds, “the number of staff was successfully adapted to the growth of AUM”. In the separate fund rating of LEADING CITIES INVEST, Scope concluded that the KanAm Grund Group shines with a low-risk branch mix in LEADING CITIES INVEST, "which shows its strengths against the background of the Covid-19 crisis".
At the turn of the year, after around 20 years in the Frankfurt MesseTurm, KanAm Grund Group moved its headquarters to Frankfurt's CBD and is starting the new year in the new and modern OMNITURM, which is a finalist in the International High-Rise Award and is one of the five best high-rise buildings in the world.
