Thomas Völker new Head of Financing/Treasury at KanAm Grund Group

With Thomas Völker as the new Head of Financing/Treasury, the KanAm Grund Group is strengthening its team of experts. Thomas Völker, who was last responsible for commercial finance business in Europe at Munich Hypothekenbank as Head of Commercial Real Estate International Clients, will take up his post on 1 May. The trained banker and business economist previously worked for Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen (Helaba) as Senior Vice President for Commercial Real Estate Financing in Continental and Northern Europe and for Aareal Bank in Wiesbaden as an authorized signatory, among other things, he was responsible for the real estate lending business in Great Britain. Thomas Völker (47) will bring his decades of experience in European finance and loan business from structured real estate transactions to the KanAm Grund Group, both in institutional activities and in the fund business for private investors.


In 2019, KanAm Grund Group's institutional business accounted for around 75% of the more than 50 individual transactions in Germany and Europe and more than 2 billion euros. In addition, new specialized real estate funds tailored to customer needs were launched, such as Fokus Norddeutschland Fonds for institutional investors from the banking sector. The KanAm Grund German Development Fund, which specializes in the special property class of development projects, has already started with 6 projects in 2019. The KanAm Grund Group was also able to successfully implement prestigious orders for German and international real estate investors in Edinburgh and Munich. 


For private investors, the fund management of LEADING CITIES INVEST managed to open up the new markets of Finland, Poland, Switzerland, Spain and Ireland for the open-ended real estate fund for private investors last year. In 2019, the property portfolio grew to 30 individual properties at 22 locations in 9 countries. Regionally, the open-ended real estate fund is now present across Europe in selected cities with a future, from Helsinki in Finland to Barcelona in Spain, from Dublin in Ireland to Warsaw in Poland. At the beginning of April this year, LEADING CITIES INVEST also acquired the PIXEL office property near Paris. After changing the energy supply from a sustainability perspective, the LEADING CITIES INVEST could already save 1,821 tons of CO2 in 2019. The KanAm Grund Group's open real estate fund currently has a performance of 3.9% p.a.
